Royal Roads welcomes associate vice-president Paul Corns

President Allan Cahoon is pleased to announce the appointment of Paul Corns as associate vice-president (community relations and advancement). Paul comes to Royal Roads from the University of Regina where he served as director of communications and a term as acting associate vice-president (development and alumni). Paul has also worked in government and the crown sectors in Saskatchewan and British Columbia.
A senior communications professional, Paul brings to RRU a track record in strategic communications and issues management as well as a wealth of experience in publication production, web development, stakeholder relations and media relations.
He has worked in the university sector promoting teaching, research and service in areas such as environmental sustainability, healthy populations, and the creation of a more inclusive society. In addition to leading projects in branding and marketing, Paul has also contributed to successful fundraising initiatives at the University of Regina and the Kinsmen Foundation of B.C.
Born in Liverpool, Paul was educated in Laval, Quebec prior to completing his undergraduate degree in communications at Carleton University. He is a graduate of the British Columbia Institute of Technology in broadcast and media communications and is pursuing his master’s degree in public policy.
As associate vice-president (community relations and advancement) – a newly-created role at Royal Roads – Paul will be responsible for leading communications and media relations, issues management, and fundraising as well as supporting the executive team in stakeholder and government relations.
The Royal Roads University Foundation and the Office of Community Relations become an integrated unit while fundraising for the Robert Bateman Centre will continue to be overseen by Paul Gilbert, the Centre’s executive director.
Paul's official start date is Tuesday, October 12, 2010 and we invite all to extend him a warm Royal Roads welcome.
